Devil's Ridge 2007 Vintage Motocross

AHRMA Nationals

Several club members and friends rode to this nearby event on a beautiful Saturrday with temps in the 70's and ample sunshine. The track had some moist spots from heavy rains the night before, but conditions were vastly superior to the mudfest under constant cold, pouring, rain in 2006. Turnout was excellent with a wide range of marques from BSA, Triumph, Maico, Husquvarna, CZ, Hodaka, DKW, Can-am, Jawa, Penton, Rickman, Ossa, and Bultaco to vintage versions of the more familiar Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamahas. The smell of 2-stroke castor oil ran thick. For us british enthusiasts, we were treated for a good dose of BSA with some inspiring riding from the legendary Jeff Smith, who, well into his 70's, can still ride a BSA Victor with a vengance. The twin-piper CZ of Casciero was quite a sight tearing through the dirt. The Sportsman 500 Experts put on an amazing show flinging Kawasakis, Maicos and CZ's around like they were modern MX'ers. All around a great show and fantastic event.
